TULSA, OK -- With temperatures in the teens, The Tulsa Police Department is reminding citizens to be winter ready and prepare for emergencies.
Officers suggest making sure the maintenance for your vehicle is up to date. They also say to pack crackers and water in your vehicle in case you are ever stranded in the cold and are waiting for help to arrive.
When temperatures reach these lows, officers say it is extremely important to check on the elderly, by giving them a call or stopping by to make sure things are ok in their homes.
Also, make sure your pets have a break from the temperatures as well with a warm spot out of the wind and provide them with adequate food and water.
Officers say taking some extra precautions can help ensure everyone's holiday season is a little brighter.
