TULSA, OK -- A truckload of 1,000 frozen turkeys was delivered Tuesday morning to the Salvation Army in Tulsa.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino made the surprise donation in what it says was a way to help Tulsa-area non-profit organizations with food supplies for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
The turkeys were donated by casino employees and Cherokee Nation Entertainment.
In all, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is donating 3,000 turkeys this season.
Some of those turkeys are headed to other northeastern Oklahoma agencies and to the Oklahoma City food bank.
And hundreds of casino employees are giving their employer's gift back to the community.
220 workers from Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino gave their turkeys to the John 3:16 Mission Tuesday.
When the casino gave the employees turkeys, about 30 percent of them asked the casino to donate them to someone who needed the food more.
