TULSA, OK -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the motorcycle rider who was hurt when a high-speed chase ended in a crash in south Tulsa early Friday morning.

Troopers identified the man as Samuel Dean Freeman Jr., 23, of Tulsa.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Freeman was riding a stolen 2003 Suzuki motorcycle when he hit speeds of up to 140 miles per hour on the Creek Turnpike.

Troopers were unable to stop him until he lost control of the motorcycle at 81st and Yale and was thrown off the bike.

Troopers say the motorcycle hit a concrete center island as it came out of an "s" curve, at about 5:45 a.m.

They say Freeman, who was wearing a helmet, got up after the impact but then lay down in the grass.

EMSA took the driver to the hospital to be checked out.

OHP says no one else was hurt.
