FORT HOOD -- The widow of an Oklahoma soldier killed at Fort Hood says her husband loved serving in the military and hoped to make it his career.
“He just wanted to help the world, help everyone, strangers, everyone. He was… you know, no one's perfect, but he was as close as it gets,” said Jennifer Hunt, Jason Hunt's widow.
Jennifer Hunt was only married two months, but her love for her husband goes back four years.
Jason Hunt was one of 13 victims of last week's deadly shooting in Fort Hood. The Tipton native was remembered Tuesday by his fellow soldiers and President Obama, as a man who loved serving his country.
“He joined the Army after high school and did a tour in Iraq and it was there that he re-enlisted for six more years on his 21st birthday so that he could continue to serve,” said President Barack Obama.

Jennifer Hunt and her family paused in front of Jason's memorial after the ceremony. She says the military changed her husband's life, turned him into the loving, caring man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
“It still hasn't completely sank in. I have my moments where it's overwhelming and I've been praying and talking to Jason and have been feeling comfort in that, but I'm just waiting for it to completely hit me,” said Jennifer Hunt.
Jennifer says her husband was proud of his life and how the military was shaping his future.
“I just want everyone to know that Jason was a wonderful person and his life ended way too soon and God definitely took an angel from this earth,” said Jennifer Hunt.
Jennifer Hunt says she's not concerned with what happens to the accused shooter Major Hasan. She says she's putting that in God's hands.
