SPERRY, OK -- A hamburger, right off the griddle, is one of America's favorite lunchtime sandwiches. There's a place just up the road in Sperry, where you can get a fresh quarter pound hamburger or cheeseburger for only two bucks.
"Everything I make is cooked to order," said Joe Knight, owner and head cook at Hot Dogs and More on Highway 11 in Sperry. "As far as my bacon, my burgers - everything is cooked to order."
Kathy Barnes and Tauny Johnson help him out, and Friday is $2 burger day.
"Never had anything that was my own," Knight said of his business.
He and his wife own the building. They've seen other businesses come and go - nothing was very successful - so he thought he'd give it a shot himself.
He's been open a little over a year and has been celebrating with $2 burger day on Friday. The regular quarter pound hamburger is just two bucks.
Andrea Crawford owns the tag agency down the street. She's a regular at Hot Dogs and More.
Her dog's out in the truck; he gets a bacon treat.
There's nothing like a fresh cooked hamburger, and if you can get it for $2 - there's nothing like that either.
The name Hot Dogs and More was selected before the Knights realized burgers would be the big seller.
The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with $2 burgers each Friday.
