TULSA--After Bryce and Sunshine Hill decided to buy the abandoned Tulsa Little Theatre and restore it, they started hearing ominous stories about the building. Neighbors told them of rumors that the historic building was haunted.
After months of cleaning and restoration work, the couple had a both a unique place for Bryce's law office and a working theatre. But they also began to see and hear strange things.
'Oh things with, you know, sandbags swinging and nobody being around,' said Sunshine, 'no air conditioning or air movement of any kind, nothing that could be making it move, so that's kind of weird...footsteps, voices.'
A strange ghostly image caught in a photograph, a young boy that they still cannot explain. And people told them of the other ghosts rumored to inhabit the theatre.
'There's a little girl, we call her Sara, that had a dance recital here and after it was over she ran out to go to a car across the street and got hit and killed her,' said Bryce, 'and neighbors have to us that they've seen the little girl out and would come and tell the owners hey you've got to watch your daughter, or this child she's out in the street and we would say she not ours and nobody knows about her.
And people would tell them on an old producer director named George that worked there for years and years, he had a favorite seat in the auditorium that he sat in and directed his cast and crew, they told the Hills he had a heart attack and died in his seat.
'The people that tell us this are the people who were performing here,' said Bryce, 'they're older and they would say they would come back and rehearse and they would look out and see somebody sitting in that chair, and they always felt like it was George. So much that they would leave a light on over here and it had a piece of tape and they would call it George's light.'
The Hills aren't afraid of any ghost who may inhabit the theatre, but the do leave a light on for George.
