TULSA, OK -- Tulsa's first retirement community specifically for people with memory problems is celebrated a grand opening Thursday.

Cypress Springs, near 71st and Yale, was designed for patients with Alzheimer's and other memory disorders. It has room for 66 patients.

Philip Brosseau, a partner in the project, says the facility pays close attention to every detail of patient care.

"The way-finding path in the corridors, because dementia residents often look down while they walk, the artwork is geared to where they would know which corridor they live in so they have sense of independence," Brosseau said.

Cypress Springs will begin construction on a building in Oklahoma City in about a month.
