TULSA, OK -- Reggie Ivey will be the new Interim Director of the Tulsa Health Department effective Oct. 1. Director Gary Cox announced his resignation last week.
"I am honored to be selected by the Board of Health to lead the department during this transition period," Ivey said. "It is my intention to make this a seamless process. I look forward to working with the Board, staff and external partners to continue the goals that have been set to improve health outcomes in Tulsa County."
Ivey is currently the Associate Director of Community Health Services for the THD. He began his career in public health as a field epidemiologist in the HIV/STD Division of the Oklahoma State Department of Health. He has worked as a health educator and manager of the Tulsa Healthy Start Initiative, a program to reduce infant mortality in Tulsa County.
He was the Executive Director of the Margaret Hudson Program, a school for pregnant teens, until he returned to the THD in 2004.
Cox has accepted a position as the Oklahoma County Health Director.
