UNDATED -- The U.S. Department of Defense announced the death of Spc. Matthew D. Hastings, 23, of Claremore.

Hastings died on August 17 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident.

Hastings was assigned to the 582nd Medical Logistics Company, 1st Medical Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command, Fort Hood, Texas.        

The circumstances surrounding the soldier's death are under investigation, according to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Defense.
