JENKS, OK -- Many know the Oklahoma Aquarium is a unique resource. It's provides an opportunity to learn more about and even touch many sea animals. Now, a national group has listed it as one of the best in the United States.
The Oklahoma Aquarium has several interactive exhibits where visitors can touch and feed the animals. There's a new interactive exhibit opening on Thursday and some kids from Muskogee were given a preview on Wednesday.
"Now, you'll be able to put your hands in the water with horseshoe crabs and shrimp," said Teri Bowers with the Oklahoma Aquarium.
It's one more of the aquarium's educational opportunities which Green Planet, a Discovery Channel subsidiary, put on a list of the nation's best eco-educational facilities.
"They were looking for eco-friendly aquariums," said the aquarium's Teri Bowers.
The educational touch tanks, among other things, impressed the Green Planet folks.
Bowers says if you can touch it and interact with it a bit, you can learn more than you might from just a book.
