NORMAN, OK -- A Norman man is being called a hero.

Bill Dowding gave CPR to former Cleveland County DA Preston Trimble last week after he collapsed inside a Homeland store.

Trimble was in cardiac arrest.

"I took the class some years ago and I just remembered. It all came to me instantly. The whole time I was working on him I was hoping I was doing everything right," said Bill Dowding, a Norman resident.

Trimble is now doing much better.

Because of Dowding's actions, he was selected as Emergency Responder of the Year for the entire state.
