NORMAN, OK -- Oklahoma athletic department officials say football season tickets have been renewed at a 99% rate for the upcoming season.
The renewal rate is the highest during Bob Stoops' 11 seasons as the Sooners' coach.
Oklahoma athletic ticket office officials say the university's average renewal rate is about 96% and that the renewal rate has not dropped below 94% since Stoops arrived in 1999.
Oklahoma sells about 69,000 general public season tickets, and those purchases are renewable. The athletic department also sells about 8,000 season tickets to university students annually.
The 99% renewal rate came even after ticket prices increased. The Sooners will play six home games.
University President David Boren says the renewal rate indicates the strong support of OU graduates and state residents.
