OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation is notifying its clients that their personal information was on a computer server that was stolen.
The commission says the server has been recovered and it appears the personal information of teacher candidates from 1999 through 2007 was not accessed.
Commission director Ted Gillispie says the server does not appear to have even been turned on since March 2007 when the commission replaced it.
The server contained Social Security numbers of people taking the teacher certification exam and Gillispie says the data is now being encrypted.
