Monthly Fatal Accident Rate Up

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety reports that the number of fatalities from traffic accidents has exceeded the number of deaths in the same month last year.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety reports that the number of fatalities from traffic accidents has exceeded the number of deaths in the same month last year.

Statistics released by the DPS show there have been 37 deaths in the month of June so far, compared with 32 for the month of June in 2008.

DPS reports 306 fatal accidents in Oklahoma so far, less than the 312 recorded during the same period last year.
