Mayor Kathy Taylor's Statement:
I wish to reiterate to the citizens of Tulsa what I said the day I announced that I was not going to seek re-election as Mayor. I intend to continue my duties as mayor through November, focusing on the budget, the current economic downturn, as well as numerous other issues that are important to the citizens of Tulsa.
I felt running for re-election would deter my ability to effectively lead this city for the next five months.
When my term expires, I plan to do some travelling, specifically on Route 66 with my husband.
Then next January, I will give some thought to the next chapter in my life, which could be any number of areas. Those areas could include, but are not limited to, private business, or a public position, either appointed or elective. I am not ruling out anything but also am not contemplating any public or private position at this time.
I have five more months left to serve this city and then I have several weeks for some "r and r" with my family.
