TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Department and Tulsa County Sheriff's Office are cracking down on drunk drivers this Memorial Day weekend.
Officers and deputies spent hours overnight on Saturday stopping cars at the eastbound lanes of Skelly Drive at East 41st Street.
Authorities checked drivers for licenses, insurance, intoxication, vehicle violations and even curfew.
Officers say they stopped one man who didn't have a license or insurance and had an open beer in his cup holder.
Police say the man was extremely intoxicated. He was handcuffed and re-evaluated in the Tulsa Police Department mobile command center.
Officers also towed several cars. They say the night was successful in keeping potentially dangerous drivers off the street.
Drinking and driving is a factor in nearly 30% of the fatal crashes in Tulsa each year.
