CATOOSA, OK -- A company at the Port of Catoosa which builds air-cooled heat exchangers has announced layoffs.
In a statement, the company said "the reductions at our Air-X-Changers division will impact approximately 185 positions and are necessary to align capacity with the current economic realities and expectations."
The statement also said more than 40 percent of the affected employees have been with Air-X-Changers less than six months.
Air-X-Changers is a division of Harsco Corporation, which is based in Pennsylvania.
Air-X-Changers has three buildings at the Port of Catoosa as well as a facility in Sapulpa.

Statement from Harsco:
The global financial and economic crisis has impacted virtually every industry, and while Harsco is weathering the storm, its businesses have not been immune. The reductions at our Air-X-Changers division will impact approximately 185 positions and are necessary to align capacity with the current economic realities and expectations.
More than 40 percent of the affected employees have been with the company less than six months. Air-X-Changers will continue to be the industry leader in its field and will take appropriate steps to ensure that there will be no disruption to customer deliveries or service.
When economic conditions improve, Air-X-Changers will be well-positioned with a reduced cost structure and state-of-the-art manufacturing efficiency, both of which should strengthen its competitive position going forward.
