TULSA, OK -- Several state lawmakers are hoping the U.S. Postal Service will change its mind and leave the Kendall Whittier Post Office in Tulsa open.
The U.S. Post Office is scheduled to close the postal station at 1st and Lewis on May 1.
State Senator Judy Eason McIntyre and state Representatives Jabar Shumate and Seneca Scott will be holding a news conference Friday afternoon to make a statement about the closing.
"Closing Whittier won't even begin to make a dent in the bucket of ‘postal debt,' but it will be a huge dent in the lives of the people who live there," according to a news release.
The news conference will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tulsa's city hall.
