New Mayor In Broken Arrow

BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Mike Lester was selected as Broken Arrow's Mayor at Tuesday's city council meeting.

Lester, who previously served as Vice-Mayor, joined the council in 2007. A graduate of Broken Arrow High School, Lester worked for the Tulsa Police Department before creating Lester & Associates, a general contractor company in Broken Arrow.

He has been involved with the Broken Arrow Civitans for almost 20 years, five years on Union Public School's Board of Education and 26 years on the district's long-range planning committee.

"I am proud to serve as Mayor at this pivotal time in Broken Arrow's history," says Lester. "I look forward to working closely with my fellow council members on important issues and always putting our citizens first."

Also at last night's meeting, Councilman Philip Tucker was elected as Vice-Mayor. Tucker, who joined the council in 2007, is a middle school principal in Broken Arrow.

The council includes Mayor Lester, Vice-Mayor Tucker, Councilman Richard Carter, Councilman Craig Thurmond and Councilman Wade McCaleb.
