UNDATED -- Tulsa's BOK Center shines despite the tough economy.  A recent poll ranked the top 50 venues in the world for ticket sales in the first quarter of the year.  And, the BOK Center came in at number 9 worldwide in the ranking by Pollstar.

Tulsa's arena was ranked 2nd in the United States beating out Oklahoma City's Ford Center which ranked 49th, Kansas City's Sprint Center which was 14th and New York's Madison Square Garden which was 18th.

Only the St Petersburg Times Forum in Tampa, FL, sold more tickets.

The BOK Center's general manager credits the big name acts that have performed with the success.

"The types of artists and events we have been able to attract have been incredible. We knew the first few months since opening in September would be outstanding, but we really have not slowed down," said BOK Center's John Bolton.

Some of the acts include Billy Joel, Elton John, AC/DC, Brad Paisley and Larry the Cable Guy.
