SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a 70-year-old man may have drowned in a farm pond near a Sequoyah County residence.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the Sheriff's Department responded about 11:30 a.m. Monday to the home of Aubrey Fred Coatney about seven miles northeast of Sallisaw.

OHP troopers say Coatney's wife told authorities she found him missing from inside the residence shortly after breakfast and went outside to look for him. Troopers say she found him submerged in the pond and called for help.

A sheriff's deputy pulled Coatney out of the water and an ambulance and the medical examiner were called.
