NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A former University of Oklahoma student who is accused of kidnapping a faculty member at gunpoint is free on bail.

Michael Childers posted bond and is set to appear March 17 in court in Cleveland County for a preliminary hearing conference.

The 27-year-old is accused of pointing a handgun at Japanese instructor Mano Yasuda on February 13 inside Kaufman Hall and trying to force her to leave the building with him before others came to her aid and he fled.

He was arrested later that evening in Broken Arrow and placed in jail with bail set at $100,000.

Yasuda has sought a protective order against Childers. Last year, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge for hacking into her computer account and ordering merchandise.
