TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A federal grand jury has indicted an inmate from Dallas on charges of committing three bank robberies in Tulsa in 2004.
Federal court records show that 65-year-old John Lawrence Stanley received a prison sentence of 9 1/2 years in March 2005 after pleading guilty to robbing a bank in Kansas City, Mo.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons Website, he is being held in a federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Woodward says that in the federal system, there is a five-year statute of limitations for bank robbery. The three Tulsa robberies occurred in March and April of 2004.
Authorities say they've long thought the same person committed all three heists.
