OKMULGEE CO. -- Students in the Twin Hills school district have this week off after fire destroyed their elementary school last week.

Firefighters from three Okmulgee County communities spent hours putting out the flames after the fire broke out Friday morning.

When it was over, the 100 year old building was destroyed, along with most everything inside.

The building housed pre-k, kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classrooms.

Students weren't in the building, because they were on spring break.

Investigators believe it started in the principal's office, but they hope to determine an exact cause this week.

School officials say classes will resume on March 9.

Twin Hills teachers are asking for help. They've started a collection drive. Items needed include crayons, rulers, pencils, scotch tape, paper, paper clips, glue and markers.
