Soldier With Owasso Ties Killed In Afghanistan

Sgt. Schuyler Patch and three other soldiers died when a bomb exploded near their vehicle in Kandahar.

OWASSO, OK -- A roadside bomb has claimed another soldier with ties to northeastern Oklahoma.

The U.S. Department of Defense says 25-year-old Sergeant Schuyler Patch, and three others in his vehicle, were killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. 

The military lists Patch's hometown as Owasso. 

He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry Regiment, 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. 

The explosion occurred on February 24.

Patch's funeral will be held in Illinois where he and his family have lived for several years.
