OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- State emergency management officials will review the storm siren activation policy in the next few weeks as Oklahoma prepares for severe weather season.
In most communities, the policy is to sound the sirens after the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning.
That's done on a county-by-county basis.
But some cities within the county only sound the alarms if their area is being threatened.
Just this week, the North Central Texas Council of Governments came up with a uniform set of guidelines to activate the sirens.
The state of Oklahoma is considering adopting that policy.
