TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A trial is under way in Tulsa for a former nursing home employee accused of raping an elderly Alzheimer's patient in 2001.

James Edward Mack Jr. was charged in August 2007 with first-degree rape in connection with the attack on the woman who lived at the Southern Hills Retirement Community.

A Tulsa Police officer testified the woman was "the perfect victim" because she was unable to talk about what happened to her.

Another police officer testified that he found the woman clad in a nightgown lying in a street outside the nursing home.

Prosecutors say the 33-year-old Mack admitted engaging in a sex act with the victim, but his defense attorney says there is no evidence the woman was raped.

Records show the woman died in 2007.
