BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Two Broken Arrow residents arrested last week for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old neighbor say they're innocent.
Broken Arrow Police say the pair, 31-year-old Justin Flanagan and 29-year-old Shelia Porter, knocked the victim to the ground and began to strike him.
Witnesses told police officers Flanagan struck the victim with a brick.
Both Flanagan and Porter were arrested at the scene in the 600 block of North Cedar.
Police say the victim was taken to a Broken Arrow hospital, where he was treated and released.
Flanagan tells NewsOn6.com he only took action when he says he saw that the teen was about to strike Porter.
Flanagan says he stepped between the teen and Porter, and the teen struck him.
He says he was only defending himself, and that he never struck the teen with a brick.
Flanagan says the only time he even touched the brick was to pick it up and throw it out of reach of the teen so that the teen couldn't use it as a weapon on him.
Flanagan says he did not know the neighbor was a teenager and would have called police himself had he known.
