OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City Thunder guard Desmond Mason has undergone successful surgery after suffering a hyperextended right knee.
Team physician Carlan Yates performed the arthroscopic procedure on Mason on Friday morning. Thunder officials have said they expect Mason will make a full recovery, although he will miss the rest of the season.
Mason suffered the injury during the Thunder's 114-102 overtime victory over Memphis on Wednesday night.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti has said that an MRI exam revealed bruising to Mason's right femur and tibia bones.
The surgery was necessary to remove debris caused by the hyperextension.
