TULSA, OK -- An arson hotline tip has resulted in a teenager's arrest in connection with a fire at a Tulsa church.
The 16-year-old, whose name was not released, was arrested Saturday night and booked into jail on a complaint of first-degree arson, Tulsa Fire Capt. Michael Baker said.
The fire caused more than $100,000 in damage Tuesday night at Bowen Baptist Church, 1515 E. Independence Ave.
Investigators received information about the suspect from a caller shortly after the fire. After several interviews, the teenager admitted to starting the fire, officials said. He lived near the church but gave no specific reason for the arson.
Upon booking, it was discovered that the suspect had active warrants in Kansas. He will be held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
