Atoka County Firefighter Killed In Crash

A firefighter was killed on Saturday while fighting a grass fire in Atoka County.

ATOKA, OK -- A firefighter was killed on Saturday while fighting a grass fire in Atoka County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 61-year-old John Myers was driving a fire truck through heavy smoke, when he collided head-on with another fire truck.

The second truck was driven by Myers' son, Juston.

John Myers was pronounced dead at the scene.

His son was treated for minor injuries and another firefighter was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be fine.
