OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- An Oklahoma soldier who recently re-enlisted in the service has lost his battle with cancer.
Specialist Jason Hinton, 28, was preparing to deploy to Iraq with the 45th Infantry Brigade a little over a year ago. That is when he learned he had lung cancer.
Recently, Hinton learned the cancer had spread to other parts of his body.
Despite that fact, Hinton re-enlisted with the Army National Guard.
Jason Hinton passed away three days later. He is survived by his wife Samantha, his mother and two siblings.
Hinton was born in Muskogee.
