EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Space shuttle Endeavour's cross-country return trip to Florida atop a modified jumbo jet has been rescheduled for later this week.
The shuttle is poised to be bolted to the 747 on Monday night, but it isn't scheduled to begin its trip back from California until Wednesday at sunrise. It could arrive at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida as early as Thursday, depending on weather along the route.
It takes about a week and costs $1.8 million to transport the shuttle from California to Florida.
Endeavour returned from a nearly 16-day mission to repair and upgrade the international space station.
