TULSA, OK -- Mayor Kathy Taylor recognized beacons of Tulsa small business on Tuesday night.
Gerald Buckley won the mayor's "Entrepreneurial Spirit" award and a $30,000 check, for his company, Grocio.com.
It's a comparison-shopping search engine for groceries. Buckley says the idea came to him a few years ago after an expensive trip to the store.
"My wife and I came out of a grocery store one day and the bill was larger than expected, having been involved in dot coms and comparison shopping before, I thought there's gotta be a way to do this for groceries," said Buckley.
A company called "Lidy Mac" won second place for it's infant crib bumper guard.
"Eco Baby" came in third for it's marketing of environmentally-friendly baby supplies.
