TULSA, OK -- A head-on collision forces part of a Tulsa highway to be shut down overnight.
The accident happened on northbound U.S. Highway 75 near Peoria early Friday morning.
Tulsa Police say a car driving southbound on U.S. Highway 75 crossed over the median and wound up going the wrong way. The driver of a northbound car saw the other driver coming at him but it was too late to avoid a collision.
Both cars spun out of control and wound up in a ditch and both drivers were rushed to Tulsa hospitals.
"There are serious injuries and we believe alcohol will play a major factor in this collision," said TPD Corporal Darren Bristow.
Police say the drivers injuries are not life threatening.
Traffic was diverted while emergency crews helped the victims and cleaned up the accident scene.
