TULSA, OK -- National Hunger and Homelessness Week is next week and Tulsa's mayor is trying to get the word out.
Mayor Kathy Taylor served food on Thursday morning at the Iron Gate Soup Kitchen at 501 S. Cincinnati.
About 300 people show up there every day for meals, and the pantry hands out about a hundred bags of groceries every week. The agency is finding that more of the people aren't homeless but low-income working families and seniors who just can't afford food.
The mayor declared Thursday Iron Gate Day in the Tulsa.
