JENKS, OK -- Beginning Monday, drivers who need to take care of any business at the Driver's License Station will have to travel to east Tulsa. That's because the Department of Public Safety is moving its facility.
Linda Clark is disabled, so the Glenpool resident says driving is already tough enough. She came to Jenks to renew her license, a chore she wanted to take care of before the facility shuts its doors.
"It would be real rough. I'm sad that they're moving this because a lot of people would have a rough time moving around," said Linda Clark of Glenpool.
Others were in the same boat as Linda, and wanted to take care of business before the Department of Public Safety puts the brakes on the Driver License Station. But, just as many had no idea that it's closing.
The station will remain open through the end of business hours on Friday, but after that anyone who shows up is going to find a sign saying the station has moved, with directions to the new location in east Tulsa.
Specifically, the new facility will be located on the lower level on the Eastgate Metroplex Shopping Center. That's 14 miles away from the current location in Jenks.
That will take some way out of their way, while making for a more convenient trip for others.
The Department of Public Safety will be holding a grand opening for its new facility. It's scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday.
