OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- An Oklahoma State Senator is back in Baghdad.
Steve Russell is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel. He led the team that captured Saddam Hussein five years ago.
Senator Russell says Iraq is a completely different country than the one he left. Now he says he's able to walk into markets Americans couldn't enter six months ago.
"I've been very encouraged as we continue to go, talking and meeting wonderful Iraqi people that have risked their lives and put things on the line for their future. It makes you very proud that the things that we have fought for, our country has fought for, and that the Iraqis who are fighting for their own nation are now taking root," said State Senator Steve Russell, (R) Oklahoma City.
