Boy Drowns In Skiatook Lake

SKIATOOK, Okla. (AP) - A Cleveland boy on an outing with his family has drowned in Skiatook Lake.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Skiatook firefighters recovered the body of 7-year-old Justin Nicholas Simpson about 6 p.m. Saturday.

The patrol says Justin and other relatives had been fishing at the Tallchief Cove dock when they decided to leave about 4:45 p.m. They say when Justin returned to retrieve his shoes, they saw him enter the water, apparently to go swimming.

Troopers say after a while, the family realized the boy was missing and started looking for him.

Firefighters dragged the lake and found the boy in about 17 feet of water some 30 feet from the shore.
