Across the eastern half of the country, a cold front brought scattered rain showers to the Great Lakes and Northeast throughout the day. Rainfall amounts in Maine were the heaviest, with 1.74 inches in Millinocket, ME. Dry conditions were reported over most of the rest of the region. Skies were partly cloudy to mostly clear over the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Deep South, and Midwest.
In the western half of the country, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed over the southern Plains during the afternoon and evening hours then tapered off after sunset. Rainfall amounts were generally 0.25 inches or less. A Pacific storm system pushed several waves of rainfall onshore over the Pacific Northwest and northern California, then into the northern Rockies and Great Basin. The highest rainfall was reported along the coast, where up to three-quarters of an inch fell. Skies were variably cloudy across the rest of the West.
