SAND SPRINGS, OK -- Sand Springs has a new firefighting tool. A new pumper truck will go into service as soon as all of the department's firefighters are trained on it.
It will be called Engine One and will replace a 12-year-old truck. Besides the extras that will help at fire or rescue scenes, it will also make getting there safer.
"The way it's set up, it has integrated safety features, such as right hand turn cameras and back up cameras, and different alarms systems. It really will give us the best chance to get to an emergency scene safely," said Sand Springs Fire Chief Tom Jenkins.
The truck was paid for with monthly fees paid by property owners outside the city limits.
