Across the East, a low pressure system in the Atlantic moved ashore in the Mid-Atlantic region. The system produced high wind gusts over 50 mph and heavy rainfall in excess of 2 inches. The highest rainfall and wind gusts were reported in North Carolina. Wilmington, NC received 2.73 inches of rain while Pea Island, NC reported wind gusts to 59 mph. A tornado also occurred in Sneads Ferry, NC. Showers were reported from southern New England to Georgia. Meanwhile, a few isolated showers and thunderstorms developed in southern Florida. Rainfall amounts were less than half an inch. Skies were partly cloudy in the Great Lakes and Deep South.
In the central region, morning showers and thunderstorms pushed through the Upper Midwest. Hail was reported in northwestern Iowa as a few of the storms became severe. The rest of the region was generally quiet, with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies and dry conditions. A record high temperature was set in Rapid City, SD at 93 degrees.
Over the West, showers developed in the Pacific Northwest and moved into the northern Rockies. No severe storms were reported. Another area of thunderstorms developed in southern Arizona and the Four Corners region during the afternoon hours. Skies were partly cloudy to mostly clear with dry conditions elsewhere. Beaumont, CA set a record high at 101 degrees, while a record low in Dayton, WA fell to 27 degrees.

In 1971, an experiment called Project Stormfury attempted to weaken Hurricane Ginger by seeding the clouds east of Florida.
