PICHER, OK -- Oklahoma's new secretary of the environment says he'll keep the state's commitment to relocate residents living in the Tar Creek Superfund Site.

J.D. Strong has been Oklahoma's lead man for a $60 million federal buyout of Tar Creek homes and businesses located in Cardin, Hockerville and Picher.

The buyout was announced in May 2006, but is short about $30 million.

Eight million dollars was made available in May for the project and another $9.5 million came through earlier this month.

Strong says all appraisals could be done in twelve months.
