BLACKWELL, OK -- Part of one Kay County town is under water because of record flooding, leaving many families without a home. The flooding in Blackwell has displaced about 800 people in town and, around 250 homes and businesses were flooded after the storm pushed the Chikaskia River over its banks.
"The worse is just starting for them because of the cleanup and just overall bad conditions created by something like this," said Blackwell Emergency Management Director Jim Inmon.
Emergency management crews will be assessing the damage Monday morning. With so many homes affected, we're told the process will take three days.
