It was a scary situation at a Tulsa elementary school on Wednesday after a four year old student disappeared. After hours of searching, the little girl was reunited with her mother. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports a TPS spokesperson says the district is still trying to sort it all out.
For now, one Mom's just glad to have her daughter back.
Moments after school let out at Mark Twain, panic set in.
"Oh! The worst nightmare I've ever had. She's four years old! She's my baby," said Teea Jackson.
For two and a half painstaking hours no one knew where Teea Jackson's daughter was.
"They're supposed to stand at the curb and wait for their rides. For whatever reason she didn't wait for a ride," said TPD Officer Leland Ashley.
Police say Teea's daughter instead hopped on a school bus with a friend around 2:45 and ended up at the Sandy Park Apartments about a mile and a half away. Teea says a family friend saw the girl and took her to grandma's.
"Oh, I am so relieved. It's been two and a half hours almost, but she is found," said Teea Jackson. "Let's just hope this don't ever happen again."
The district's transportation and police departments are investigating in hopes of finding out how the little girl was able to get on the bus in the first place.
