Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education approved a new pilot alternative program on Monday night.
It was previously called Burbank Academy and it was going to be housed at Bell Annex. The program was supposed to cater to students with substance abuse and mental health issues.
Residents were upset because it was too close to an elementary school.
The district has now renamed the program New Vision Academy and it will be housed at Fulton Learning Center.
A few school board members wanted to wait to approve the plan until they saw the results of an audit of the district's alternative programs, but they were voted down.
