The Cities of Jenks and Owasso will hold special elections coinciding with the state and county runoffs Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Jenks - Emergency Medical Services District Decided
The City of Jenks is asking citizens to approve plans to form an emergency medical services district to replace the current EMSA amublance service provider contract.
If the special election question passes, Jenks firefighters would receive training beyond their current first responder status to provide basic emergency medical technician and advance life support services to citizens in need. Passage would also fund the purchase of medical technology and equipment upgrades.
The method of forming and funding the emergency medical services district would be an annual ad valorem tax levy of three mills on the dollar of assessed property within the district. The current EMSA subsidy would be eliminated from the city water bill.
Owasso - Increase In Hotel Tax Proposed
The City of Owasso is asking its citizens to approve an increase in hotel occupancy taxes, from 3 to 5 percent.
