American Airlines may be flying into fines.  The Federal Aviation Administration is demanding more than $7 million in penalties for safety problems.

The government says pilots called in problems with two MD83s, and the airline flew them anyway.

The FAA says the jets flew 58 times without being fixed.  The feds also cited American for deficiencies in its drug and alcohol testing programs.
