JENKS, Okla. - Mark Ginther was one of the most productive quarterbacks in Jenks school history. Finding Ginther's replacement has been nothing short of a battle; a three-man battle to be exact. Senior Zach Horn, junior Beau Marsaln, and sophomore Sawyer Kollmorgan are all gunning for the starting role.
"We've got some great linemen fighting for the position and there's some great competition going on there, so I think it's going to make us better in the long run," said Jenks Head Coach Allan Trimble.
While finding the right replacement at quarterback is key to the Trojan success this year, Coach Allan Trimble says he can recall winning a state championship with an inexperienced quarterback. What he can't recall is ever winning one with an inexperienced offensive line. This year's squad hopes to be no exception as they return three guys to the trenches with starting experience.
"Well don't tell anybody, but I think that's the secret. Those guys are up front of the offense and defense I think are the key," said Trimble.
"I think it's the biggest point of the team, explained offensive tackle Jake Alexander. "Because if you don't have a good offensive line and block people, you can't get anything done.
Jenks hopes to win their third-straight 6A title this season.
