MIAMI (AP) - Tropical Storm Hernan continues to weaken far out in the Pacific.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says that as of 5 a.m. EDT Tuesday, the storm's maximum sustained winds had decreased to near 50 mph. Forecasters say the storm could weaken to a tropical depression later in the day.
The weakening comes a day after Hernan lost it's hurricane status.
The storm's center is located about 1,505 miles west of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico. It's moving toward the west near 9 mph.
